Isn't it interesting travelling around the Norfolk, East Anglia area to see all the various out buildings some of which go back pre finding of Australia. This caused me to consider the actual cost of our steel buildings. You see we have this mind set that looks at the price and never the cost. With this thought in mind "What is the cost" of a steel building I began to ponder this thought and it occurred to me that the initial cost although seemingly expensive takes a natural resource and turns it into something that can be used time & time & time again. Steel buildings are almost 100% recyclable! Because we live quite close to a waste away recycling centre I have the pleasure of seeing many lorry loads of scrap, every day going to be Recycled & Reused, I have often wondered just what products these lorry loads of scrap are going to end up as. Steel is just such an amazing product that has changed our society in astounding ways. It's an interesting thought that your car may have once been my washing machine that was recycled from a pre war steel building, just like some of these that I see here in Norfolk that have stood the test of time offering generations of service and at the end of their useful lives being melted down & resurrected into something else quite useful. Amazing world isn't it? |
